Mentoring women in STEM
Kaitlin is co-leading Women in Technology Sharing Online (WitsOn!) today, an online open source six-week course and discussion for women, from middle school through graduate school, in STEM fields. She’s writing about her non-linear path to a career and higher education in ecology, as well her experience as a female scientist in the workplace. Join the conversation here!
The idea behind the online platform is to reach a broad audience through a medium that comes very naturally to younger scientists and can be accessed anytime during the day. UW-Madison is just one of several universities participating; there are hundreds of mentors from a range of disciplines. The New York Times had a great piece on the initiative here.
