Last week I had the great fortune to be invited to Cornell University to give some lectures.  I say “some” because I had the privilege to talk about our Iceland work to the Ecology and Evolutionary biology program and then a few hours later I gave a talk on our bioenergy-related landscape work to the Entomology department where I was the honored Griswold lecturer.  I have to admit that I was pretty exhausted by the end of the day, but well worth it.

I made some new friends during my visit (too many to thank), but a tip of the hat to my gracious hosts Katja Poveda and Andre Kessler.  Katja is doing some fascinating landscape ecology working in Columbia looking at the landscape ecology of potato tuber moth in potatoes and herbivore-induced resistance. It was great seeing some old friends too – Jen Thaler, Anurag Agrawal and John Losey – with whom I have long and distant connections (Jen and I went to High School together in Illinois!)  I had not been to the campus since my very first visit in 1991 when I was applying to graduate school.  My path ended up taking me elsewhere, but it was great visiting again.  Things were blooming already –  thanks to all for the great time!  Claudio
